Wayanad
Description:
In Wayanad, encounter Andy Warhol’s theory of 15 minutes of fame. For
here, the road to celebrity Ville begins with the elephant. Everyone,
almost everyone has an elephant tale to tell. Elephant wisdom to
disseminate; elephant theories to propound and an
I-don’t-know-how-I-lived-to-tell-you-this-encounter with an elephant.
Bathery town [Or Sultan’s Battery, the last outpost of the district] is
perhaps just another small town in Kerala but it was also where The
Mysore Raja was beaten back by the British. Behind it is the jungle and
it's
amidst the confines of the jungle that we operate. So that it comes
alive in a manner that extends beyond more than elephant stories…
For Wayanad is also a treasure trove of natural history and a home to a
tribal way of life. Our package allows the traveller to see and feel and
more importantly experience Wayanad. From the pre historic cave
paintings at Edakkal to plantations to river trails and trekking routes
to wild life safaris to, each and every aspect is carefully chosen to
introduce its multiple dimensions.

How this trip will benefit local
community and environment:
Spice tours were initiated to support small time farmers and spice
planters in and around Wayanad areas to find alternative, supplementary
source of income. This provides a glimpse of the issues surrounding the
struggles of spice farmers in terms of price crash and issues of
globalization.
Second day is focused on the natural and social environment we live in.
Visit to
Rainforest Garden involves interaction with community who initiated the
rainforest regeneration and the later half of the visit benefits the
community living in the alternative school campus.
This trip also benefits the non profit groups that assist the locals in
training in various livelihood programs. Wildlife safari is organized in
association with the Eco Development Committees and the benefits and
directly handed over to the guides and trackers from indigenous tribes.
All the trackers and assistants for the trekking are locals.
