Amongst the hundreds of comments and feedback we have received since
we started operating in Kerala, guests told us that whilst they were
happy to be part of The Blue Yonder
Responsible Tourism initiatives they would also like to know how
they could continue to make a positive impact to any future travel
destinations they visited. Most of them were also keen to learn
about the policies of business enterprises in the travel industry.
Whilst many properties in Kerala may not have correctly marketed or
shared their responsible tourism practices within the industry or
even amongst their guests, it is obvious that many do in fact follow
responsible tourism policies.
Amongst other things, our guests wanted to know if the solid waste
from the property they stayed in was processed responsibly or if
their holidaying in one particular location had added to the misery
of the lives of local people. (For. e.g Waste dumping closer to the
source of drinking and bathing water). Rather, they preferred to
leave the place and probably come back again, knowing that they had
a played a positive role in making changes to the environment and
locality they visited. (For e.g, provided economic benefit to the
local people, helped conserve heritage properties or heritage sites,
tourism activities that supports preservation of forests and
wildlife.)
So we decided to bring together properties that are operated
responsibly in Kerala. We are still in the process of enlisting our
associates. This will be officially launched at the Kerala Travel
Mart in Cochin 2006. After this you will be able to browse through
the properties and details and do the booking directly with the
properties.
