Cape Town Soccer Route

Before there was talk of South Africa hosting the 2010 World Cup, even as far back as the days of slavery, Cape Town was mad about soccer. So it's no surprise that today the city is crazy for the game, playing it everywhere from the side of busy freeways to school fields to high-tech stadiums.

This tour begins at Signal Hill, where you'll get a spectacular view of the Cape Town Stadium at Green Point. Your guide then takes you through the story of soccer in South Africa, and of Cape Town specifically.

From here, we move to one of the city's premier league soccer facilities. Here we will be able to get a taste for where our premier league teams are in terms of resources and facilities. We'll have a refreshment, and maybe catch the team in a training session.

Then we will go into one of the townships of Cape Town for our final element – to play a game. We usually play a 5-a-side game with the Ambitious Youth of Khayelitsha, a soccer project that is making a real difference to life for young men in one of they city's biggest townships.
