| Nepal, a land-locked nation bordering India in the south and China in the north, is a place where legends hold truth and heaven meets earth. Although the country is relatively small (147,181 square kilometers), 80 percent of its territory is occupied by the dramatic peaks of the Himalayas. Nepal is perhaps best known for its mountains and pristine nature, a permanent attraction for trekking and rafting holidays. The mountainous north contains eight of the world's ten highest mountains, including the highest; Mount Everest.
This small, hospitable country has since become an exceptionally popular destination for travelers, whether they are in search of climbing challenges or spiritual enlightenment.Nepal's 18 million inhabitants belong to dozens of different ethnic groups. They can be divided roughly into Hindu peoples (who live mainly in the lowlands) and Buddhists, who live in mountain villages close to Tibet.
Kathmandu is the nation's capital and the country's largest metropolitan city. This is the political, commercial and cultural hub of Nepal. Kathmandu is enriched with temples more than homes and festivals exceeding the number of days in a year. The whole valley with its seven heritage sites has been enlisted in cultural World Heritage Site list. Kathmandu is a fascinating old city today where pagodas, narrow cobbled lanes, old carved windows, and stone shrines are backdrops to the drama of life that continues unhindered. The natural beauty of Pokhara in Midwestern Nepal is simply bewitching. In some travelogues, the Kathmandu valley has been referred to as the "Emerald Valley". This journey experience is really fascinating and climate charming.
Season Varies from cool summers and severe winters in north to subtropical summers and mild winters in south.
