CHIMMONY
Midway between Cochin and River Nila, Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Thrissur district. This sanctuary, consisting of the watershed areas of two rivers: Kunumali and Mupliyam is encircled by hills. And, has three different kinds of vegetation ranging from ever green, semi-ever green and leaf shedding trees. Since a part of the Chimmony wildlife sanctuary lies adjacent to the Peechi-Vazhani wildlife sanctuary and the other part to Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary, all kinds of flora found in rain forest are seen here.
However what makes this sanctuary a truly unforgettable experience is that it is a yet to be discovered option for guests visiting Kerala. Hence it’s a virgin trail for trekkers and those who love to camp in the wilderness.

ACCOMMODATION
Rated as a unique experience by most of our guests, tented accommodation inside the forests is set amidst rain trees. Operated and assisted by the indigenous people, the campsite is non intrusive to the nature. There are no permanent structures in here. The campsite before and after occupation would remain a – leave no trace zone-. The campsite is located in such a way that there are running water on one side, fresh water pool and a small waterfall on the other side. You can swim in the pool; the chilled water is welcome break from a tiring trek in the forest. Nearby the site is also a small rocky mountain where one can get the view of the forest and the lake to a long distance. The campsite operates only maximum of three days a week. Listen to our stories, legends of the forests, places and our experiences that make us wanting to come again and again to these forests.
The campsite is approachable by boat for 40 minutes or 4-5 hours of trek through the forest by the lake. For those who like a bit of exercise and enjoy the nature and even to spot animals, we recommend the trek from the landing area till the campsite.
