With all the facilities you can expect from a great hotel, such as stylishly decorated Afro-chic rooms offering superior comfort and quality, with shared or en-suite bathrooms, private electronic safes and an in-house ATM.
Our rooms come in a variety of numbers from 8 bedded dorms to private en-suite rooms so there is something for everyone. We also have a 4 bedded dorm just for girls with a few extras thrown in like a hairdryer, soaps and lotions and some great magazines.
Stay in touch in our internet cafe or use WiFi throughout the hostel; swim in the pool with a stunning view of Table Mountain – a World Heritage Site, or meet like-minded international travellers in our buzzy Café / Bar.
Long Street, gorgeous Clifton and Camps Bay beaches, Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront and the city centre are all just a stone's throw away.

Making a difference is more than just an initiative of The Backpack, it is the way we are, the way we work and the way we live! By staying with us, you will be making a difference to the lives of many children. Also we are trying to make a difference in how we treat our planet.
We separate and recycle our waste, send our kitchen peelings to the worm farm in our garden (we use the worm tea for the garden as well as the vermi-compost) Our showers have water wise shower head, taps fitted with aerated ends and our toilets are dual flush. We do not sell bottled water anymore instead we use a filtered water dispenser and our guests can fill their own bottles or purchase one of ours. We send our bottle tops to artists who make craft out them and all our lights are LED or Halogen. We recently installed a solar powered hot water system used in conjunction with heat pumps so as to use as little electricity as possible even when there is no sun around. We hope this goes towards a better night’s sleep knowing we are trying to do something for our and our children’s environment .
